Busy Times and 4th July

Well it Certainly has been a busy couple of weeks! We have found a new place to live, we went for it in one day and visited 9 apartments in total and there were 5 we really liked!! we put in an application and got the place at the top of our list, so very happy! The best part is it is 150m from Bondi beach! so Ali has no excuse not to improve his surfing!!

We went for an unfurnished place so last weekend was mostly spent shopping about for furniture and packing!!! We also got a little car last week, well a Golf so not too little! and it came with a Tom Tom to make sure I can find my way about! We picked it up last week so Ali met me at work and I drove home! It was the first time I had driven over the Harbour bride so was quite exciting!

On the Sat night we headed over to Murry & Monique's for there 4th July Party, it so much fun and the food was amazing! Monique had her mum send over a few things so it was very authentic American food!!

Sydney Vivid Light Show

At the weekend ( well I am a bit slow so it was actually the weekend before!!) Me and Monique headed down to the rocks area to see the vivid light show! It was pretty amazing! I have to confess though that I did not actually take these photos...I did try but they just did not come out and give them justice!

We started at the Opera house and walked along circular Quay to the Museum of Contemporary Art, below are the 2 main exhibitions but there were also a few smaller ones on the way! very impressive! I pass the opera house on the train every night after work and every few days the display would change!! ( it gets Dark at 5pm here!!).

Palm Cove

Thanks to the Queen's birthday we had an official bank holiday on Monday the 8th June!! I find it strange how we get it in Australia and not in the UK! so we headed to Palm Cove for the weekend.

We left Sydney on Friday afternoon and flew to Cairns ( 3 hours from Sydney) it was lovely at hot as soon as we stepped of the plane! it was strange to think we had flown for 3 hours and were still in the same country! We got picked up by the hotel and travelled the 30k to Palm Cove where we spent a great 4 nights.

Palm cove is set on a 5km beach with a small road separating the beach from the row of hotels/ restaurants and shops etc....a small place but had a great feel to it!
We were staying at the Sebal Hotel, was so nice and we were literally a hop and a jump from the beach!

Our lovely hotel room

As soon as we arrived we checked out the hotel and then headed along the front where we came across quite a lively bar so we stopped for a bite to eat and a wine or 2!!

Me with my very large chicken skewer!!

Ali enjoying a steak and cold schooner ( you don't get pints here!!)

Me relaxing on our swing seat the next morning

Ali outside the front of our hotel!

After breakfast we would have a walk along the beach following by a swim as the sea was always so warm...

The beach sign could put you off!!

The beach was about 5km long and always so quiet

Not a soul in sight

Our hotel peaking though the palm trees

Then we would head back to the hotel to relax by the pool

Via the bar of trust! it was great....

The hotel had 3 swimming pool, hard to choose!

Who's that in the corner!!

On the Sunday there was little market stalls set up along the closed off street, mostly art work for sale....some really nice pieces!

Me at the start of the markets

The food we had over the whole trip was just amazing.....so we had to take some snaps!!

My yum ay fruit salad

Ali with his salmon omelet, he had it 3 times!!

Our favourite time of the day was cocktail hour at a little Italian cafe.....me enjoying a watermelon martini!

and some antipasto!

Every night the sky would turn this pink colour when the sun would set

Ali took his new camera so there was about 50 photos of this butterfly...so chose the best 2!

Woman of Style Awards

Last week I was invited to the Instyle Woman of Style Awards, It was set in a big warehouse and the theme was little black dresses....they had over 100 mannequins dressed up in different black dresses

A panel of judges voted for the woman who ranked highest in different categories from Fashion to Charity & Community with Cate Blanchett winnin the title of "Woman of Style" by the readers! It was a great night and there were a few Australian Celebs there, mostly from Home and Away...I did however bump in to Muriel.....from Muriel's wedding!! She looked quite different!
