Woman of Style Awards

Last week I was invited to the Instyle Woman of Style Awards, It was set in a big warehouse and the theme was little black dresses....they had over 100 mannequins dressed up in different black dresses

A panel of judges voted for the woman who ranked highest in different categories from Fashion to Charity & Community with Cate Blanchett winnin the title of "Woman of Style" by the readers! It was a great night and there were a few Australian Celebs there, mostly from Home and Away...I did however bump in to Muriel.....from Muriel's wedding!! She looked quite different!

Manly weekend

The Weekend started off on Friday night when we decided to re-live out Brazilian experience with friends ( Not quite...we went to a Brazilian restaurant!!) and have to say we were quite disappointed! it was set in a bar/restaurant called Favelle just round the corner from us! The cocktails were great but the all you can eat meat not so much! Ali and johnny were still hungry afterwards!! so we stopped off on the way home for ice cream and a quick drink at our local...Tilbury!

Sat morning we work up and it was a gorgeous day so we headed out to Manly to see our friends Muz and Mo, we took the bike and stopped on route at the fish markets to get jumbo prawns for dinner!!

When we arrived the first thing we did was head to the beach! The boys went for a swim and me and mo had a coffee and a stroll along the beach....lovely!

The surfers were out...
Manly beach walk way

We then headed back to muz and Mo's for dinner and drinks, first the men had to do man jobs ( putting in new light fittings)

Ali and Murry sussing out the job in hand

Right plan in to Action!

One hour or so later the guys managed to get the living room light up and working so we decided to get dinner on the go...
Murray in his Oktoberfest apron....

Me with our starter, Eggplant parmigiana ( BBQ with cheese and pesto)along with some fresh prawns...yum!)

Then it was on to main course.....

Mo shelling the prawns!

Murray with his new BBQ...it was huge!

After dinner Murray went to turn off the living room light and the fuse went.....we were in Darkness.....
Murray and Ali trying to see what went wrong

Ali then had to turn to the "How 2" manual for some tips!
They managed to get the lights back on and we had desert! A great weekend spent with good friends :0)
Sunday we had a relaxing day, went for lunch and went to the cinema to see Star Trek, it was very good!!

New Neigbours

We have some new Neighbours! There are 2 little cats that have just moved into our block! we see them every day when we leave for work! and they have taken up residency on our balcony to constantly stare in at us eating breakfast! Ali was using the BBQ last night and when I came downstairs they were running around the living room....we have called them Snickers and Haggis!!

Investigating the BBQ!

Having a seat!!

Pilobolus

Had a busy but good week! Tuesday night I got offered a free ticket ( though work) to the opening night of Pilobolus...Wow it was good! They appeared on the tv show here " So you think you can dance" and I remember thinking how good they were and thought about getting tickets!

We also got to go to the after party for drinks, food and meet the dancers, I was really surprised that a lot of them did not come from a dance back ground...one guy was from Hawaii and surfed and another from the US who played quarterback football! There next stop is Rio...I wish I was going too!!

Autumn times

We decided to have a low key weekend as the last few have been fairly hectic.....and wanted to make the most of the weather before it turns to Winter!

Sat morning the Sun was out so we decided to go for a walk along all the bays, we left our flat in Potts point and passed Elizabeth bay, followed by Rushcutters Bay and then Double Bay where we stopped and had a really nice lunch beside the water

Rushcutters Bay

The view from the hill between Rushcutters Bay and Double Bay

On our way to Double Bay we came across a little block of apartments called "The Annery" which I reminded me of mum!

Double Bay

We then walked all the way to Bondi Junction, where we came across a international food market, they were serving all different cuisine from different parts of the world along with some live music!

We then reached the huge shopping mall where we decided to have a look round and then headed to the Cinema to see Wolverine!....quite good! and then when we came out it was absolutely pouring with rain, cold and dark! we could not believe it as it was such a nice day in the morning! so we had to jump in a cab to get home as we had shorts on and no umbrella!

On Sunday there was a festival at Kings cross ( right beside us) full of stalls selling food, hand crafts and wine! not to mention the free samples!! They also had a stage with live Music, marshal art demonstrations and a doggy show!!! I was quite disappointed as we missed the doggy show, but we could guess who came in what as there was lots of dogs running around with rosettes on them!
